Assimilation with Nature The poet, Mr. Byung-Ho Lee, is a lyric poet in the purest sense. Not only his view on life, but also on nature, are expressed through his five senses. In poetry, an image of an object is created from the fruit of a poet’s deep and wide intellectual conception. The images that our five senses feel are portrayed through the experiences of the poet and provide us with intellectual imaginations. Poets have magical powers to create art through accepting and sensing these images. Mr. Lee expresses differently when it comes to his lyricism using his simplistic tone extracted by certain visual and natural phenomena. I step outside to my backyard Where the green water sputters What used to be a tiny flower with two leaves Has grown to be a splendidly beautiful four o’clock flower Just like its sister, magnolia Pumpkin leaves, eggplant leaves, leek leaves, chili leaves From my wife’s basket Flow out the savor of the backyard from my youth Its cheek wearing pink color Became a four o’clock flower The wind from the Pacific Ocean Flown over the valleys of the long years Shakes up the branches of the four o’clock flowers Oh, the gently released scent Of the four o’clock flowers in my backyard. From 「The Four o’clock Flower」 출판사 서평 여기 한 시인의 서정적 고백을 이야기하는 소리가 들린다. 이병호 시인의 시집은 총 4부로 되어있으며, 각 부마다 우리에게 전달하는 메시지가 다양하다. 그 중 첫 번째로, 자아 인식과 성찰의 의미를 탐색하고 있으며, 이러한 인생행로를 시간성과 동시에 추적함으로써 삶과 생명의 동반이라는 진실을 재발견하는 시법을 강구하고 있다.. 두 번째로, 인고의 삶을 통해서 추적하는 이미지의 산책으로 내면에 잠재한 다양한 이미지들이 분사(噴射)하는 현상을 엿볼 수 있게 한다. 그냥 지나치기 쉬운 소재들을 보고 그리움의 정서를 끄집어내고 고마움과 사랑을 노래하는 시인의 표현이 돋보이는 시집이다.

It must be your fate
To never stand on the ground
