저자 소개

1938년 서울에서 태어나 서울대 법과대학 행정학과를 졸업한 뒤 조선일보사에 입사하여 정치부장, 사회부장, 편집국장, 편집인, 대표이사 부사장을 지내며 평생을 언론 일선에서 보냈다.
 그동안 한국신문방송편집인협회 회장, LG상남언론재단 이사장, 방일영문화재단 이사장을 역임하였다.
 현재는 재단법인 통일과나눔 이사장, 서재필기념회 이사장, 서울평화상 심사위원, 조선일보 이사, SBS문화재단 이사, 한림대학교 이사 등을 맡아 다양한 공익활동을 펼치는 한편, 도서출판 기파랑을 설립하여 이 나라 출판문화와 발전에도 기여하고 있다.
 편저(編著)에 ⟪사진과 함께 읽는 대통령 이승만⟫⟪사진과 함께 읽는 대통령 박정희⟫와, ‘젊은 세대를 위한 바른 역사서’로 꾸민 ⟪건국 대통령 이승만의 생애⟫⟪혁명아 박정희 대통령의 생애⟫가 있다. 김재순 전 국회의장과의 대담집 ⟪어느 노정객과의 시간여행⟫을 펴냈다.
 대한민국 동백장(1988년)과 한림과학원 일송상기념사업회가 주관하는 제5회 일송상(2010년), 통일문화연구원과 매경미디어그룹이 주최하는 ‘올해의 통일문화대상’(2016년), 서울언론인클럽의 ‘이름을 빛낸 언론인상’(2016년), 서울대학교 총동창회 ‘관악대상’(2017년)을 수상했다.
